You gotta admit, the sizes stamped on the sidewall aren't always the exact same dimensions as what those tires size calculators say they are, especially when comparing two identical sizes from different mfgs. Or is my tinfoil hat to tight today?
Bingo. Different manufacturers are sometimes wildly different. That's why those calculators aren't always helpful. They give an idea, but not necessarily the truth. Gotta check the manufacturers published specs.

So, is this another one of those thread where we all argue for a while then realize we all agree?

If owners are considering other tire size options, tire calculators are a great place to start. It's an easy way to compare other sizes that may be compatible.

I don't think you could find a 165/65r14 tire or something slightly larger like a 175/65r14 that wouldn't fit well on a Mirage. They are not going to vary that much. They may, however, vary in tread depth & mileage warranty, & those are great things to check with manufacturer's specs.
