I think that turbo is for the 1.0 engine. Do you think that might be compatible with the 1.2?

Don't know why it wouldn't be, the engines are identical except for stroke.

It's possible that it'll fit the 1.2...I don't know much about fitting turbos, though.

I actually had no idea that the Smart Fortwo has the 1.0L Mitsubishi engine. I'd love to put a turbo on my 1.2. If I had the cash, I'd probably find the turbo and see if I could rig it up. It seems that no one makes an aftermarket one yet.

Smartmadness.com lists this turbocharger kit for the 999cc engine. They list a Garrett model GT20.

According to this website (turbochargerspecs.blogspot.com), it is oversized for either engine.

I'm still looking for the model turbocharger Brabus used.

I am not sure. Engine was co-developed by Mitsubishi and Daimler/Chrysler, at least the bottom part, but heads up they are different. Not sure if ports are located the same.

They are different engines. The Smart Fortwo shares the same engine as the gasoline Mitsubishi I, and it is designed for a car with rear engine-rear wheel drive layout.
The Mirage engine is a 4 cylinder engine, they used in the 1.6 liter Mitsubishi Colt, Lancer, and Outlander Sport, with one less cylinder. It was designed with front engine - front wheel drive layout in mind. Very few parts would be interchangeable.

That turbocharger has the exhaust manifold that is part of the turbo so it won't work on any other engine besides the engine it was designed for because it can't bolt up to any other engine.

    Source for this information, please?

Plus, I'm beginning to doubt your signature.

I did some research several years ago to turbocharge my 250cc ATV. I never got around to doing it, but the Smart turbo looked VERY attractive as it is TINY and is actually to small for the motor it is bolted to.

Scroll through the pictures here and you will see a good one that shows the exhaust manifold is one piece with the turbine housing.

A better match for the 1.2L motor in the Mirage would be something like an RHB5. The RHB3 is a smaller turbo but it is too small as that was the factory turbocharger on the 1.0L 3 cylinder Suzuki motor and it is well known to be too small for that motor.
