Our engine is 1124cc, most motorcycles have smaller engines than ours. The big cruiser bikes like Harley Davidson are the only ones with larger engines.

You're not the only one, I've thought that too. Most of my driving is 40-45mph, so I hadn't let the idea bother me too much. That, and a 10 year warranty.

I was concerned the high RPMs would be annoying to my ears on a long trip, but we drove from Ohio to NC and back, didn't bother me once. Factory sound deadening is good enough for me.

Thanks again to all you awesome, knowledgeable people for your insight. Gotta love this forum.

I guess I should be worried about cruising at 75mph half the time...

    Usually backroad speeds. Traffic lights.

But then, one has to think about my love for shifting at 4k and most of the time at half throttle or WOT.

So really, my car does not take a break from working hard... Poor baby.

Engines are made to go, and that's that. Keep it out of the redline.

I think you're good, as long as you don't live there. Think boat engines. I don't think they last too long compared to car engines even though they're often identical pieces of machinery.

I used to run a Honda motorcycle, 250cc, on the highway at wide open throttle most of the time. That bike was used when I got it, and as far as I know is still running 30 years later. The chainsaw I used to use red-lined at 14,000 rpms. I don't know much about engines, but I count on those who do to design them for their intended uses, so I expect (and hope) we will be fine.
