2015 Mirage Hatchback Rear Axle Track: 55.7" (1414.78mm)
Smart Fortwo Track width rear 1430mm (56.29921")

I used Google to convert inches & millimeters.

Smart has de Dion solid rear axle set up, and there gonna be a good deal of cutting and welding to make it work.

I am banking either on cheap turbo kit or Lancer/Ralliart/EVO donor.

The mistake Mitsubishi made was calling this the "GT" model, when there's nothing historically 'grand touring' about it at all. It implies a sportiness and level of performance that this car simply will not have...especially since it's coming from 'the Evo people'. Mitsu has said they are getting OUT of the performance car game, so this model has a lot of people confused.

They should have called this model the "LS" or the "SE-L" or something and saved everyone who wanted a true performance model the anguish and disappointment of pondering what might have been or what Mitsubishi can do to fix it.

So that's my vote: don't further change the car, CHANGE THE NAME.

The Fortwo can be fitted with a turbo. Sure would be fun to get Brabus to do the turbo for the Mirage.

Also in my twin-engine setup, I wonder how a manual transmission could be done? Otherwise, the CVT would be the easy route.

You gotta admit, the possibility of exceeding 200 total horsepower is enticing.

I would want it to be called Ralliart and have that stitched into the front seat backs and floor mats. All of those things are very simple for Mitsu to do without adding a ton of weight with a 4 cylinder.

This is not too much to ask.
    Yes please,
I'll take one of those. Where do I sign?

Exactly! They would have the only player in a the affordable hot hatch arena. With all of the boring crap on the roads today, it's no wonder a lot of my Millennial counterparts have no interest in car ownership at all. There is nothing fun and cheap like there used to be.

Does the Smart drivetrain use an automatic transmission? It would make for an easy swap.

Until the last generation, they all had automated manual transmissions. The last and most recent generation were available with 5 speed manuals as well as an automated manual.

Ooh, now there's an interesting proposition - electric propulsion front & rear.

Hmm, who else is doing this?
