hood latch problem -- SOLVED

my hood has trouble opening. when i pull the release, most of the time it wont work. i suspect it got something to do wih the cable.

i need someone to hold the hood up so it would be released.

how do i fix this? can i just adjust something or do i need to get the whole cable replaced?

You need someone to hold the hood up? Sounds like a spring is broken or missing.

Sounds like the hood release needs some lube. I'm a big fan of chain lube. It sprays on thin, but then it thickens into grease so it stays in place. Works great when you have sliding parts like a hood release. Other oils I've used in the past never seem to last.

ive figured out the problem and its not the cable!

its the 2 rubber stoppers where the hood rests on the bumper. they were set too low. i just turned them counter clockwise one revolution to where the arrow points. problem solved.

i discovered this coz previously, i had to let someone hold up the hood before it releases
