    Glovebox compartment light (Idea)

    Hi

I was wondering if anybody had been thinking of an Glove compartment light ?
Sometimes it could be usefull, but i dont want to have a small led light in there where i have to change the battery from time to time ..

I am thinking of af light that could be connected to the usb socket in the glove compartment.
My idea is to buy these items and try to see if its working

If its working, there would still be the option to use the usb socket for phone charging etc..

    What du you think?

Sounds like a good idea. Try it out and tell / show us how it works.

Agreed. My only beef is that if the USB port isn't powerful enough to charge phones, will it actually have enough juice for a USB to be plugged in AND a light? Also, the splitter might also drain the already low power.

    Still worth a try, though.

If anything, people like me who rarely use the USB can probably just keep the light there.

I bought a few of those lights they're pretty good. How are you going to control them on/off in the glovebox? Plug it in only when you need it or leave it always on?

My first idea was to plug it in, and let it be on all the time because the power goes of when you turn of the car, but a switch would be nice

I made a small video so you can see how it works, 10 seconds for the power to come on, and 3 seconds to cut off again when shut off ignition.
But used another Led because I find the small one to bright.

I made it, so the video is there https://vid.me/D7iq

Okay that's good because I was going to say, the original lights get a little hot after being on for a while. I'm not sure about the ones you used but just make sure they don't heat up too much and start a fire in the glovebox. I was actually thinking about buying a cheap switch and splicing it into the USB splitter, but I figured it's not worth it. I'm just keeping a small lipstick battery backup in my glove compartment along with a few of those 39 cent lights, and whenever I need them I can just plug them in. Thanks for introducing me to those, they are very handy.
