Are there any updates to this thread? I'd like to try and swap out my daughters 15 tail lights for 17 tail lights like others have stayed.

I asked if the swap could be done the other way around in another thread. Post #2 states you cannot swap the newer LED tail lamps into an older model without electrical issues......

there may have been changes in shape?
In Canada regulations require a minimum sq inches of red reflector visible from the side, hence the cheesy round red reflector in side of rear bumper cover. This has disappeared on the '17 so they must have met regulation with side wrap of new tail lights.
    Has anyone verified physical fitment?
    Will weld for beer.

I've answered this before. Check out post #34 of this thread. The assemblies are swappable physically, but electrically will need modification and may not work.

Anyone know if the intake manifold from a 17 will work in a 14? Are they identical?

For those how want to change the headlights from H4 regular lights to HID xenon projector unit of the top spec mirage there's good news.

    I did just that.

i wanted the LED strip because is looked better and the HID projector was a bonus for me.

According to Mitsubishi Netherlands it could not be done. ( i asked them when they where at our dealership with there technical guy)
I wanted to do it anyway as i work in a Mitsubishi dealership so warranty was not a big issue for me.

I ordered me some HID units and swap them into my 2017 mirage.
The wiring schematics compared to the original H4 units with our lead mechanic at the shop.
The are not that different at all only minor differences.

To make them work you basically Cut the existing 2 connectors for H4 (3 wires) , 5W light (2 wires) and solder them to the wires of the HID unit. (5 wires)
leave the automatic leveling adjuster connector in tact. this is a direct swap to the leveling system of the HID (3 wires).

The led strip and HID bulb work instantly.
The high beam signal light also work instantly.

What's not working instantly is the continuous high beam.

As the H4 light has two 12v power wires 1 for normal lights and 1 for high beam. the " normal " power will be cut when changing to high beam off course.
As for the HID the power will stay in the " normal mode " and additional 12v power is being send to a mechanism in the HID projector. so 2 wires have 12 volts when driving with high beam. that's the difference between the two units.

so when you switch to high beam in a car that has H4 original units you have a second of light and then the power drops and the light go's out.

This small problem can easily be solved just have not done this yet.
As the HID have so much more light i dont miss the high beam function at all.

I drive like this for a few months now with no issues what so ever.

So when someone says it cant be done see it as a challenge.

2017 tail lights fit on the 15 and are completely plug and play. No wiring harnesses or any adjustments needed. Everything plugged right in and I've had them on my car for a good 6 months without a single issue. Name: FullSizeRender.jpg
