Lights in the back seat (rear dome light)

Hello, I'm new here. Just got my 2015 mirage. I hate that the back seat doesn't have a light. My husband wants to wire these into the trunk light. Any suggestions for where to mount them? Where would be the easiest to spice into that wire? Will this void any of my warranty?

One idea is to wire them to integrate with the front lamp, so when someone needs light at the backseat, all you have to do is flip the switch.

I did have a chance to perform this mod. I just haven't had time to do a write up. I will try to get some pics on here tonight. I can give a quick run down. I ended up using this fixture:
    https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ture/744/2018/

Always disconnect the battery first. I cut a hole in the headliner. I ran wires to the dome light so the new light turns on with the dome light. I just ran some basic screws into the headliner to hold the light up.

It works really well! The new light is awesome. I will try to get some pics up tonight.

The Amazon link was for a pack of four. How many did you end up using?

I decided to go in a different direction. I haven't used the lights I got from amazon yet. I have only used the light from the superbrightleds.com link.

I ordered from superbrightleds many years ago. It's pretty cool how their offerings have grown since then.

Those amazon lights look like they could be used in a lot of different places. Just wondering if you used them at all.

    Thanks.

Yeah I still plan on using the flexible strips somewhere in the car. I'm thinking about using them under the front dash. This will light up the foot well area. Either that, or on the bottom of the 4 doors. This would light up the ground when the doors open. I think it would be a neat look. That will have to wait for summer though. It's too cold in Ohio right now.

Here are my pictures and a brief walk through of my dome light install. 3

    What you will need:
    1. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...ture/744/2018/
    2. 16 ga wire (about 10 foot just to be safe)
    3. Butt wire connectors
    4. Flat female wire connector

    Instructions:

    1. Disconnect the battery!
    2. Locate and layout where you want to put the hole in the roof liner. I put mine just in front of the rear seat. You will see a spot where the roof liner has a little more space between the roof and the liner. I went there to give my screws a little more room.
    3. Cut your hole. I don't remember the exact measurements of the hole. I just measured the back of the light and made my hole to fit the rectangle that actually holds the light element.

    4. Pull out the factory dome light fixture. Just a quick flat head screw driver to pop it out.
    5. Run a coat hanger between the hole in the back and the factory dome light hole.
    6. Tape your two wires to the hanger and pull them through.
    7. Connect light fixture to wires.
    8. Screw light fixture into roof liner.
    9. Put fittings on the other end of the wire and connect them to the dome light. There were two metal tabs that were on the factory dome light that I simply crimped my connectors onto.

    10. Put factory dome light back in place.
    11. Reconnect battery.
    12. Enjoy your newly lit back seat. Now, any time your dome light comes on, so will the new light in the back.

If I forgot anything, I'm sorry. I did this almost a month ago and just now got around to posting. This really was an easy mod but it has helped me out a great deal. Let me know if you have any questions.
