I just watched a video. Wow the spark has gotten terrible!

The base model 2016 $14,800 window sticker with cvt
Manual Windows, manual locks, no keyless entry on a 2016! I could see a 2 door sports car with manual everything but this is a commuter car. The lack of any features besides the touch screen link system and back up camera is pretty bad for the price they are asking.

Ya, the $4000 jump up to the CVT is crazy. The 5 speed manual is only $10K in Canada, but as you mentioned everything is manual (mirrors, windows, locks). You do get a nice touch screen system and better handling.

Jumping up to the 1LT or the 1LS with CVT is not worth $4000.

The base ES Mirage in Canada is also manual locks and manual rear windows for $10K. Well it was $10K for the 2015 prior to March.

I'll see what's out there in 5 or 6 years, but it won't be a Chevrolet. So far, for what I paid for my Mirage and the over 55 mpg I have averaged since day one, I would do exactly what I did May 9th 2015. I might get mine for $1k cheaper today than I did, but I sold $1k in stuff out of my garage today.

    I love my Mirage,

    regards
    mech

    I can't ever imagine purchasing a Chevy.

The last 21 out of 24 times I've smelled exhaust fumes from a car sitting at a red light in front of me, it has always been a Chevy.

    Yes, I'm keeping count.

    Spark sales up 540%

Spark sales up 540% in Canada! Could the $9995 marketing scheme be working??

You would think so, until you realize that last April they only sold 45 Sparks. Which means they managed to move just 289 of them last month. (Lies, damn lies, and statistics.)

That's still only good enough for 3rd place in the Canadian $10k price war behind Micra (930) and Mirage (352).

However it's still noteworthy because 289 Sparks represents their 4th best month since 2013. And I bet when the huge Mitsu rebate/sale on remaining 2015's runs out, the Spark will give it a run for its money. And the Micra will remain untouchable.

Oh, and Nissan has responded to GM with a $10 price drop, so the Micra is again officially the cheapest MSRP in the country at $9988.

    Goodbye "stripper" Mirage

Looks like for 2021 the Mirage will drop the base "$10k" model -- you could often get one at that price with incentives to compete with the $10k Spark & Micra.

For the first time in Canada, the new entry level model will have standard auto HVAC, and will be priced accordingly:

the 2020 Mirage will start at $12,298 and will add standard automatic climate control, making it the lowest entry point to that feature in the segment.
    From: https://www.wheels.ca/news/updated-2...agging-rights/

With Nissan abandoning the $10k econobox segment (the Micra has been dropped -- 2020 is its last year), I wonder if GM will keep promoting the $10k Spark or if they'll follow Mitsubishi's lead and up the price/content.

I mentioned this in another thread a couple days ago. Base models are disappearing fast!

I'm sorry, but economy cars should have a basic more affordable model to buy.

Each year the Mirage becomes less & less desirable to me. Adding features doesn't make this car more appealing to me. As far as I am concerned, we never had a base model Mirage in the States.

Base models were Metro and Festiva vehicles of the late 1980's and early 1990's. A 1990 Ford Festiva cost me $5,300 brand new. It got me to work every day (14+ years) just like my Mirage. By today's standards, I feel a slightly used or new Mirage around $10,000 is still a great deal!

If I was shopping for a Mirage today, these are the ones (all manuals) I am looking at in my part of the world -

    2017 ES with 74,245 miles for $7,136.
    2018 ES with 32,1070 miles for $8,895.
    2018 ES with 16,802 miles for $8,996.
    2018 ES with 35,611 miles for $9,226.
    2019 ES with 6,169 miles for $9,497.
    2018 ES with 12,506 miles for $9,499.
    2019 ES with 14,842 miles for $10,599.
2019 ES new for $10,999 @ White Bear Mitsubishi

I would start with the 2019 ES with 6,169 miles, & go from there shopping. These cars were taken from cars.com & within 200 miles from my home. I would look beyond that, too.

I've been watching their inventory for a while. Looks like they only have 4 manual transmission Mirages in stock...which is 4 more than any dealer around here has!

So now you can get ac standard. They bumped the price up $1300 but at least you don't have to spend $10998 plus $4000 for the Plus package to get ac like you would have had to in 2019 and previous years in Canada.

I did a build and price for a new base model spark. There are none available locally. They only have cvt ones for $16000+
