dome light stopped working...9 months ago

When I visited the dealership to look at the car I was getting, in December of 2014, the dome light wasn't working.
I pointed it out and the salesman said the service department had to "program" the vehicle. I didn't understand how much "programming" a simple dome light needs, but I wasn't going to bother asking.

The light worked when I bought the car, it started working intermittently 1-2 months later, and completely stopped within 3 months of purchase.

It's not the fuse and it's not the bulb.

Can someone please shine a light on this issue?

    Thank you,

First thing I'd do is get up there with a multimeter and see what kind of power you are getting to the bulb socket. I have had bulbs that looked good but were bad.

If it went from good to bad to worse, then I'd let the dealership figure it out if it's still under the 5/60 warranty.

Or, the dome light wiring may have developed into a loose connection.. the multimeter is the best thing to verify this condition

The bulb was visibly fine, but it was the culprit.
    Thanks guys.

Hi, anyone knows if I can use a C10W instead a C8W to replace my dome light? That can cause overheat issues or so?

It is hard to find 8w bulbs. I think I have same problem than @Dung Beetle.

This is the factory bulb (I've tried two angle to be able to read the info in the bulb - 25K24C KHA 12V8W ):

    Why not use LED instead?

Yes, thanks. I will buy that! I guess this car will do not have "CAN BUS" issue. Right?

Not for that lamp. Other lamps like brakes, yes.
