Crazy good deal going on at TireRack.com I saw today. They have Pirelli Snowcontrol Serie 3 snow tires on sale for $32 each! This is in the stock 165/65R14 size.
I have the snowcontrol serie 2 tire on my Prius right now and I will say it does a pretty good job in winter for traction. Not so amazing for fuel economy, but that is pretty much any winter tire.
