Reducing an electrical load does not make an amplifier more powerful than it is.

Again, I get the premise of what you are trying to say. However, I also get the sense there might be a misunderstanding about Ohm's law and Watts.

    Wikipedia pages for further reading:
    Ohm's law
    Volt-ampere
    Watt
Spot on. Electrical Efficiency(Ohm's Law) ≠ Electrical Power(Watts). Energy cannot be created past the max power, regardless of the efficiency. Ohm's of an amp is just telling you how effectively/efficient the power you put in(volts) will be converted to power you put out(watts).

I can't say I've ever experienced any volume issues. But I must confess that I haven't turned my unit on in over 6 months

do you have the 2014? The 2014 has a fairly accurate, but very quiet sound system. The 2015 and on had received quite an update in this department. The radio signal with the stock antenna is also quite weak. Just ordered a cheap new one off of ebay.

    I hate it too.

I agree with Joni that it sometimes is too quiet for audiobooks. That might speak to the recording level of the audiobook more than the radio system, though.

And like you, I often keep mine off. It's just not that big of a deal to me.

I just enjoy listening to the 3A92's little growl and rumble as it purrs along.

I just started having radio issues. The volume has been fading away in the middle of a song or commercial for the last week or so but I thought I was imagining it. One of my coworkers rode with me to lunch and said something yesterday as it was in the middle of bohemian rhapsody and it just trailed off. We were both shocked.

That's interesting. Is this happening to the radio only or does it happen with other inputs such as USB or CD?

Namco wasn't wrong about anything he said.

The radio is okay. Zero issues, not as loud as I want but I won't change it unless it's free

So you also believe that formula for calculating watts?
