    New Shift Knob Help

Hi all! Has anyone removed the stock boot/skirt? We took off the original knob and replaced it with this adapter and shift knob but the adapter is designed for the boot to fit right over. It looks good now (with no exposed shaft gap) but it would nicer to have the boot terminate right on the adapter. What do you say?

I'm sure the steps are similar for the manual. Thanks for the direction!

It might be easier to just remove the center console. Its only two push pins and two 10mm bolts. You can follow the directions here:

As others said, take off the center console. And then, the boot, after disconnecting it from the center console, should slide right up off the stalk. As far as making it go on your new lower section, you might be better off sticking the oem boot aside and buying an aftermarket universal and making it work that way.

I read some comments about shifting improvements with a weighted shift knob, so without too much research I ordered this off of eBay. Problem is it is Aluminum and not steel so not really a weighted knob. I will see how it feels when I get it....

Skunk 2 offers the same style shift knob but weighted for a little over 60 on their webpage. I got my weighted knob from amazon, made by blox. They had only gold at the time which i was okay with, as the silver/gun metal was out of stock. Im sure its back in stock by now. I think i paid around 30 or 40 for it.
