Mitsubishi Motors France: Space Star is not a low cost vehicle

The French car website 'leblogauto' draws attention to the Space Star and lets the managing director of Mitsubishi Motors France, François-Xavier Tézé, tell the story. He denies that the 'citadine' (city car) is a low cost vehicle.

Interesting. I wonder why he denies it? It kind of seems like that is more so the Mirage's strong point. I understand you European guys have more small car options, but it still seems like that is the Mirage's niche.
Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

Europe has much cheaper options, too.

    Proton comes to mind.

And are the cheap Chinese cars available yet, as they are in Australia?

So much more small car choice in Europe. Well, not just Europe. Outside of Canada/U.S. is most accurate.

Amen to that. I also lament the lack of small diesels here. I'd like a Golf Wagon diesel, but they run closer to $30 000, and cannot be had in the base model. Something like a Toyota Yaris with a 1L diesel would be excellent for me. (more highway driving, and I like torque)

*Edited to add - I did a bit of poking around on the internet and discovered the Honda Civic hatchback with a 1.6 diesel - pretty much everything I want in a car . . . not for sale in North America as of yet, though.

It appears the Australians would disagree with the French that the Mirage is not a low cost car: Mirage is second cheapest new car to own (RACQ 2013 - Australia)
