    You are correct.

It's a 2.5% difference with 185-55-15 tires. So when your odometer says 97500 miles, your car has really gone approximately 100,000 miles. So you get an extra 2500 bonus miles of powertrain warranty coverage.

I just replaced my tires and went with 185-60-15 this time for the additional height. These tires cause the speedometer to be low by roughly 5.5% (4mph at freeway speeds). When my speedometer (and Scangauge) say 60mph, my GPS says I'm going 64mph. That was my goal because I do a fair amount of freeway driving and I generally keep my RPMs at/below 3000.

Completely unrelated...but I wonder if anyone has ever checked a 100% stock Mirage with GPS to verify the accuracy of the speedometer calibration?

    That's my take, too.

In case someone missed it, here's a chart from the first post showing Mirage speedometer readings with 185-55-15 tires...

Only tangentially related, but if you are worried about breaking the ground truth of odometer accuracy and thus the universe itself, it's worth pointing out that you can make the odometer read whatever the hell you want just by swapping the gauge cluster and there is virtually no way to tell what has happened.

I've said this many times, but I feel the Mirage should come with factory 175/65r14 or 185/55r15. These two sizes are a very close match (both 23" outside diameter), & most tire companies in North American offer these two sizes.

Do Mirages with 165/65r14 (22.4") or 175/55r15 (22.6") factory tires use the same ETACS setting (1748mm or 1784mm)? Don't remember if that's been checked before?

I suspect 165/65r14 tires may run a little lower than actual speed. I wouldn't be shocked if slightly larger 175/65r14 tires were closer to actual speed.

    165/65r14 (22.4"), 175/65r14 (23"), 175/55r15 (22.6"), 185/55r15 (23") - If you are using these sizes, I wouldn't lose sleep over the speedometer/odometer.

    That's what I'm thinking.

    Agreed.

I think you're right. In the grand scheme of things it's not important, so I just need to get over it. Slightly taller, more-spaced out wheels will improve the driving experience enough to justify it. I don't plan on reselling the car anyway.

I recently bought a complete set of mint condition 2018 GT 15" wheels/tires for use on my 2015 DE. The GT wheels/tires added a hint of sportiness with slightly better handling at the expense of a little discomfort. I was having trouble finding a replacement 14"x4.5" steel wheel so i decided to go this route instead.

Compared to the stock 14" setup the ride feels a bit more harsh now. I expect to get slightly worse fuel economy but not by a significant amount. Driving at 60 MPH on the interstate feels more confident, less twitchy, more planted and stable. In order to preserve these wheels i may switch back to the steelies for the winter.

Edit: I had my local dealer pair the TPMS sensors for $150 (ouch! ). The set cost $300 which also included a spare set of used weather tech floor liners.

Overall I'm very happy with how everything turned out.

Are the G4 and hatchback wheels completely interchangeable? I am looking for some new alloys to replace my steels. I would probably just go with a nice set of used wheels but wanted to make sure any 6th gen mirage wheel would fit. I do like the ones shown above too
