How to remove Mitsubishi side window deflectors?

Hi guys, my 2014 Mirage was destroyed by a careless driver :-(

I have a used 2015 Mirage (1250 miles on it, just got it today).

The Mirage came with those side window deflectors. How do I take these off without damaging anything?

Since I was not the one to install these, I don't know the reverse process to do it without forcing anything.

I believe there is some double sided tape. Once I remove, will there be a persistent sticky residue? I'm thinking I would need something like Goo-Gone.

Most people would probably view the deflectors as an upgrade. For me, these only serve as an obstacle to make things harder when I clean/wax my vehicle.

Any advice appreciated from those who have installed these things.

Use dental floss or fishing line and run it under an edge and pull back and forth while pulling it along the deflector. It'll cut the tape and release the deflector.

Goo gone, rubbing alcohol, or mineral spirits to remove adhesive. Good luck.

I actually use thin rope or twine, but proceed as zx2uner recommends. I had to do this with a door molding and a window deflector after my car was backed into. They both needed to be transferred to the new door.

Getting them off should be pretty easy. But getting the tape residue removed is a BEAR! I actually bought some of the stuff 3M makes specifically for removing trim tape. Problem is that it is made for painted surfaces...it eats and discolors clear acrylic.

You will need a lot of patience. I can't remember if I used rubbing alcohol or lighter fluid, but neither will harm the window deflectors.

    Thanks for the advice guys.

@Cobrajet - I have no fear of damaging the window deflectors. I do not want them at all. Of course, I will attempt to not damage them in the process, but my main priority is removing them without damage to my vehicle. Damage to the deflectors is of no consequence to me to be honest.

If your careful about removal you could probably sell them. They aren't cheap to buy and if you could get a few $$ why not?

@ Basic - lol - well, we will see if I can get these off without breaking them.

There's so many other things I have to do first to this car before getting to the side window deflectors.
