Debadging Mitsubishi Tri-Star Emblem from back hatch?

    I have a 2015 Mirage hatchback.

Was looking into removing the Mitsubishi Tri-Star Emblem on the back door hatch, but before doing that, was wondering if anyone has done this already?

Is the emblem held there just with glue on a completely flat surface underneath, or are there little holes underneath for emblem mounting pins under?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Double stick tape. Same removal as the window deflectors. Just metal underneath, no indentations, just flat surface.

Thanks to the helpful info on this forum, I went ahead and removed not only the tri-star mitsu emblem from the back, but also the ones saying 'Mitsubishi' and 'Mirage'.

I used waxed dental floss, broke a couple of times, so I can definitely see the wisdom in people recommending fishing line!

That was NOT the hard part though. After removing the emblems/badges, the sticky, gum, rubbery evil compound left behind where the badges were -- were an absolute nightmare the remove!!

That stuff did NOT want to let go of my car. It was like a facehugger from Aliens.

After realizing how slow and hard it was going to be to get the junk off, I almost repented my decision to remove them...almost lol! Still worth it in my book! Back is ALL nice and clean and now I know it's going to be much easier polishing/waxing/etc in that area for the future.

MOST satisfying part out of everything though was removing the dealership sticker! No free advertising for the dealership (was an eyesore too)!

Me too. I made my purchase with the understanding that there would be no such advertisement. I would be glad to have a license plate frame from the dealer, but nothing else.

Did you heat up the adhesive to soften it, or just saw it off?

@ Eggman - I used hairdryer to heat everything up which helped me remove the emblems with the waxed dental floss. However..the sticky, rubbery junk left afterwards did not want to get off. Maybe I didn't heat it up high enough??

I doused the rubbery junk in goo-gone..did nothing.

Goo-gone IS amazing, I removed sticker residue easily with it from the dealership sticker. The stuff left behind from the 'Mitsubishi' , 'Mirage' and 'Tri-Star' emblem left behind this grey, macro layer stuff in the shape of the emblem they were holding. Goo gone did nothing for this. Only after I removed the macro rubber stuff (a HUGE undertaking) was the goo-gone useful for completely removing the sticky residue afterwards.
