Sure did, it was seanla04's success that prompted me to start again, I had pretty much given up 'til then.

There are 3 ecu, etacs ecu, engine ecu and cvt ecu (auto only). The one you want is right under the fuse box.

satria_wr, what is required for programming modifications? I've heard there is a MUT III and something for the ETACS. Are both needed for these cars?

Just use etacsdecoder software and use any j2534 hardware (install the driver correctly, and etacsdecoder will be able to communicate with the car using the tools). Cheapest way is using mini vci for toyota (approx. $25).
Then, go to engine coding, change 2 parameter :
Cruise control = from not present to present
Cruise control variant = from not accept to accept

    Done.

You sure do make it sound so easy.

Your saying with a laptop, correct cable, and a computer program, which is all readily available (and cheap), it's possible to tweak all the etac stuff?

Would you mind explaining further, or even post a more detailed how-to guide? It would greatly benefit many members, and the community as a whole.

Using it will enable you to modify all the etacs settings and parameters.
More detail guide can be found on its website.
I'm willing to make a how to. But currently I'm waiting for my new cluster meter unit (well, its used, but close to my current milage). I have to change it because the one that are installed in my car has no cruise function (yes, there are several mirage out there that don't have cruise capable cluster).
Once it arrive (should be on 7-9-2016, 7 more days to wait) then i can fit and install the wiring,... I'll take pictures of the installation.

Why for Toyota? Do we use the OBDII port on our Mirages, or another connector that would use the 22-pin Toyota connector?

In example: OBDTool.com: 2015 MINI VCI FOR TOYOTA TIS Techstream V10.00.028 offers their mini VCI with or without the Toyota adapter.

I think MightyMirageMpg is asking for details on accessing the programming for our cars, not just for cruise but for unlocking other features these cars are capable of. Where can we learn more about ETACS and how to use it?

This might not warrant it's own thread, but it's own sub-forum. I can see opening a lot of features on these cars, such as auto stop & go. Each feature with it's own dedicated thread.

Mini VCI is cheap. And also it use OBD2 socket. From your link, thats the tools
To learn more, open www.etacsdecoder.com, you can find most information about etacs there.
From what i've known, etacs is the main controller of the car ecu. It tells them what to do and what not to do. If you alter the etacs parameter, it might unveils hidden function that are already installed in the ecu but not allowed to be active. Of course, you will also need to install the hardware (switch, sensor, wiring, etc).
