Malaysia - DRIVEN: Mitsubishi Attrage tried out on a Thai track (paultan.org)

Paultan.org has posted a lengthy piece on the new Attrage / Mirage G4 sedan that's worth a look.

I think their conclusion that the sedan is a very different car from the hatch is probably a bit overblown. But what do I know... I haven't driven either one, yet!

Their impressions, based on driving a CVT-equipped car, which notably has a "S" gate which causes it to behave more like an old-school stepped automatic with fixed gear ratios.

    Like...

    - prefer the sedan's front styling vs. the hatchback
    - excellent fuel economy rating
    - perky initial acceleration
    - light weight
    - impressive rear seat room
    - good outward visibility

    Dislike...

    - loud engine when pushed
    - still lots of body roll, like the hatch, though ultimate grip is fine
    - steering devoid of feel/feedback

    Overall...

The writer puts things in context: the Mirage isn't meant to be a track car. In its proper context...

"Generally the Attrage is smooth and easy to drive. [...] Put simply, it’s a B-segment sedan with all the city driving qualities – nippiness, fuel efficiency and ease of use – of an A-segmenter."

Thanks Metro. I hope we get the sedan here in Australia soon.

More choice is better. Out of curiosity, which would you choose - sedan or hatch?

I think the practicality of the hatch seals the deal for me.

I would most likely get a hatch.
