+1 It would be interesting to see some other reports on these engines. I've only done 1 oil sample so far (see it HERE), but it was only after 1000 miles when the engine was brand new so I could see what it looked like. This won't help you, but maybe my next sample will.
Interesting that your TBN level was still OK even after 15K miles. This sample is a different engine, but here is a report from my 2009 Pontiac G5 XFE. I was running Mobil-1 Extended Performance and had this sample done at 9400 miles. Notice the comment about my TBN level. I don't think the oil in that engine could have gone 15K before the TBN went to 0.
On a side note for people who may think oil samples are a waste of money...
A guy in my office just bought a used Jetta TDI. He had an oil sample done and it came back with extremely high iron levels. He didn't know it, but some VW diesels have a problem with camshaft lobes wearing prematurely. So he's going to have it checked, and will probably end up putting a new cam in the thing when it's due for a timing belt. Hey...I told him to buy a Mirage...and I'm getting better fuel mileage than he is, too.
