2013 Mitsu sales soar in the Philippines (business.enquirer.net)

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. president Osamu Masuko and other company representatives at the PH Mirage launch.

We all know how much the Philippines loves the Mirage (eg: The Philippines "Car of the Year" award goes to *drum rolls* ... Mirage!). Now, here are some numbers to back it up:

    • overall sales up 25% in the first 6 months of 2013 vs. the same period last year
    • Mitsu owns an astonishing 24.4 percent of the overall auto market
    • Mirage sales: "A total of 4,538 units were sold in the first half (of this year)"
    • Mirage is the best selling model in its segment

Another tidbit on PH sales of the hatchback...

When the Mirage hatchback debuted last November, local Mitsubishi officials projected that it would sell on the order of 250 units per month. Turns out it was way below the 650 units a month that actually rolled off dealers’ showrooms.
And regarding the upcoming Mirage G4 sedan...

Demand for the Mirage hatchback caught local Mitsubishi officials by surprise. This time, they’re much more ready—to the tune of 700 to 900 units a month. As they say, build it, and they will come.

    More PH sales info...

    Mitsubishi sales zoom 27%

Mitsubishi Motors Corp. saw its sales rise in the January to October period from a year ago amid strong demand for its passenger cars (PC), particularly the new Mirage G4 and the Mirage hatchback.

    [...]

“This significant increase is attributable to the sales of MMPC’s newest model, the Mirage G4 sedan which complemented sales of the Mirage hatchback and Lancer EX,” MMPC said.

The Mirage G4, launched last month, was received well by the market as sales reached 762 units on its debut month.

“The Mirage G4 sedan also captured the second bestselling passenger car, while the Mirage hatchback is the fourth bestseller in the PC category,” MMPC said.
