I flog the hell out of the car so most likely i stretched the head bolts pushing it too hard.

That's good to know that the engine can withstand 130,000 miles of abuse. Those of us who drive normally shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yeah once I tear the old engine apart Ill let you all know my findings and will post pictures of all bearing surfaces.

The way you describe the engine removal sounds just about the same as how I do it at the shop. Taking a little extra time to remove the front bumper and rad support opens up so much more room and really speeds up the job. The mirage is the only car that I pull the engine out the top rather than drop it out the bottom.

Started tearing the engine apart and found out the head bolts are a T55. Well I have a T55 socket but I have to go out and buy a long version of it because the base of the socket wont fit inside the head. LOL. Nice idea though. They are also Super thin bolts. I dont think it will ever see lots of boost for the guys who were thinking about it
