Thread: Engine Block Heater Installation (OEM cartridge style 400w)

Read the reviews. Looks like eggman left one on amazon. It should fit. Amazon interchange can't be trusted 99% of the time. It's amazon not rock auto.

    Amazon was $59.99 + $9.45 shipping

    https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/KAT11812
NAPPA was $36.49 (free pick up at store I believe)

    https://www.autozone.com/external-en.../4216_121545_0
AutoZone was $31.49 (free shipping if you added something else and made it $35)

    https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...812/11124809-P
AdvanceAuto was $30.99 (another 15% on line discount available & free shipping)

I ordered one from Advance Auto @ a total cost of $27.79 shipped to my home.
Most, if not all of these are now much more expensive, from 10-20% more in less than 10 months. I put together a tidy order at AAP for drums, shoes, 2 Kats heaters, serpentine belt, air filters for a reasonable sum.

I had 2 Kats on my wish list @ Amazon for $45.99 each. Mind, the $59.99 one still showed as a choice. When I wasn't looking Amazon took the $45.99 Kats off my wish list. It took a few days before I noticed. I'm not pleased the way Amazon did that.

I think I'll be using AAP a fair bit, They seem competitive.

Just did the block heater install on my 2019 Mirage. The canadian Mitsubishi part number is MZ314817 and costs 107$ at the dealer. The kit has all the necessary parts needed for the installation.

It's on a timer, set to work for 2 hours before i leave in the morning. Temperature will be a steady -11'c tonight.

You will love a warm and near frost free windows the second you step in your car.

The only enhancement is heated seats. Do you have those?

Can anyone recommend a good timer under $20? I was about to pull the trigger at home hardware on one but after seeing some reviews of it failing when temps get to -15 c I didnt pull the trigger. I doubt my garage will get that cold but still dont want to risk it. Thanks

Canadian Tire had/has one that's really good, it goes on sale often for $10-12 and has an easy to set interface. Above all, my 2 have been 100% reliable even down to -35C over the past 10 years now! It's actually an Intermatic, a decent brand, the reliability seems miles beyond Noma. It's limited to 1000w tungsten load and only has a single outlet. I use one for Christmas lights and the other one for two 400w block heaters. Both of my timers work great.
