Thread: Grey Ghost :: 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage ES (Garage entry)

  1. General Information
    Grey Ghost
    2014
    Mitsubishi
    Mirage ES
    Dark Gray
    CVT

This car is being added to my collection of Geo Metros, and the one Civic VX that I have left. It will become my daily driver when completed.
Purchased from a guy that deals in cars he purchases from insurance auctions. Driver's fender, door and mirror needed replacement. Driver's rear door and rear wheel area needed some rework. Fairly easy repair. About an hour to remove bad door, rehang new one, and install new fender.

It passed the required safety inspection today. Now I have to submit all the paperwork, and have another inspection done by the DMV official.
Bad news to report. My car is experiencing the starter/flex plate eating issue. It's done it twice. Push the button to start, and it grinds like crazy. Dropped off at the stealership today for some recalls, and to check out the starter issue. Not happy, as the starter won't be under warranty.

I have this issue and it's only getting worse

Best way to attempt to avoid it is not starting it like you want to.

Get in the car press the start button twice then press the clutch in and attempt to start, be ready to release the clutch quickly.

This doesn't solve it but it helps

Just got back from the dealer. Two recalls done free of charge. One recall, #C1602A, a ECU reflash/update, supposedly addresses my starter issue. The reflash is for a couple different issues, according to the service mgr.
