Yeah, I've also done a steel set (years ago). The aluminum is MUCH easier. But it still takes an unreasonable amount of time. I suspect most people wouldn't do this.
When I start to think about giving up, even with the benefit of a carbide bit and effortless 300000 RPM or whatever, I like to remind myself of my buddy's dad who built his own custom Model T in the 1930's ENTIRELY WITH HAND TOOLS. ...
