Oh, V-10. That works. I've never Forded it, but if I did, I run from the 6.0hNo. The V-10 may drink a lot of gas, but it is a respectable power unit. I'd rather have the 6.8L any day vs the 6.0hNo. I like old trucks. Now back to the main topic. I like 3-Tappers too.

Tried to resolve the rattle. The two rear hangers seem fine, not a lot of play, the hanger hole seems "normal" and not elongated. Tapped the main muffler with a rubber mallet and heard some rattling. Could be that ? The heat shield at the exhaust manifold and upper catalytic converter was loose at the upper three bolts, fixed that. I dunno.

Well it wasn't the heat shield, the rattle is still present. Heat shield on that 2nd cat seems intact still, no movement.
I found a post from Fummins from 2017 about a muffler rattle https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...ll=1#post63734 https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...ll=1#post63717
I suppose I could attempt to replace it...

Here you guys. My G4 being reviewed by ZP is now live.

I replaced a front wheel bearing. Was a simple job minus the abs sensor. I tried for 3 hours to gently coax it out of its hole(PB blaster and light twisting). Then I got mad and now need a new one. I can't imagine why they are so expensive.. PN# 4670B087. Most are $30 and here mitsu says $130 wth? Hopefully I don't have to do the other side anytime soon. Car only has 80k miles on it
killerrudy - Interesting / informative post. I would imagine the glorious salt thrown around up yonder contributed to corroding that sensor into place. I don't blame you for getting mad about it. I got a chuckle reading about you getting mad at it! I get mad after 5 minutes fiddling with something on a car. I don't know why I love cars so much, they're very frustrating. Very much like women problems ... cept cars put out as much as I want and when I want.

Totally not relevant but Ford Festiva get another review by ZP. Link below, and I wonder if that was Mark's past car?

Nope, not mine. That one is the fancy LX, & I could only afford the poverty level L in pop yellow color. The L had a much less finished look on the inside. For example, the inside of the doors weren't even covered completely. The L didn't come with a factory radio or A/C. At that point in my life, I hadn't owned a vehicle with A/C.
At the time of purchase, my wife was pregnant, resigned from her teaching job which cut our income in half, and I needed an affordable, dependable car. Not unlike my Mirage, the $5,300 price tag for a new Festiva was the driving force in the purchase. No matter how long I drove it, I knew it couldn't depreciate more than $5,300.
Also the 1988-89 had carburetors, and 1990-93 had fuel injection. We had terrible carburetor issues with my wife's old Plymouth Horizon, and the fuel injection of the new 1990 Festiva was appealing.
A whitetail buck on the roof of a Ford Festiva will cave in the roof slightly. I learned that driving across Wisconsin in early November. Thankfully, it just popped back out when I shoved it back up after the deer was removed. I don't think a Mirage roof would hold much either?
