What did you do to your Mirage today?

Recently, I was driving to my parents (approximately a 4 hour drive across Wisconsin) on a somewhat gloomy day. It wasn't bad enough where most felt headlights were needed, but I did take note of something.

I want to say this first - I am not a big fan of chrome. I wouldn't mind if my dark grey 2017 Mirage had less of it up front, but I also know my car color doesn't stick out on the road. Thus, I noticed the other day the difference chrome makes on dark colored vehicles. The chrome does make them pop out more. Cars, pickups, SUVs with large strips of chrome are way more visible than dark colored vehicles without much chrome up front. Once I started looking for this, I was somewhat surprised by the difference. It's quite substantial.

If you have bright colored car like the kiwi green, orange, blue (Mirage's blue sticks out more than a dark blue tone), & white, the chrome may make less of a difference. On a dark colored Mirage, however, the chrome may actually serve a valuable purpose that I never really considered before.

Thus, I now dislike the chrome on my 2017 Mirage a little less & I am glad the next version may still have some. Even the large Chevy or Dodge pickups with larger chrome fronts stood out way more than other trucks with just dark fronts.

Just sharing a recent observation concerning the use on chrome on cars.

No. Over here 4 name brand tires mounted and balanced with a warranty for $260 is good. That's only about $40/tire when you take away $25/tire for mounting and balancing.

When I put the snow tires on our Honda Accord a few days ago it became clear the OEM tires were just about shot. I checked our local BJ's and the cheapest name brand tires with deals at BJ's were just about $500 for four and many tire choices ran into the $600's. These are 215/55-17 size. Yikes!

I have seen the Federals at the same BJ's for my Mirage around $250 for four installed which seemed pretty good to me.

Here in blighty an Imperial gallon costs about £5.48. How lucky we are to have such a small petrol tank on a Mirage.
I've had cars that'll take 60 litres, now that's eye watering.

Did this a few months back, long before there was snow on the ground and the weather was always below 0.

Haha if only I had a big enough strap!! This is at the museum beside the Halifax Int. Airport I've seen it everyday on the highway for years and finally got around to taking a picture with it.

I really like your hubcaps.

If I could find black ones like that, I would scrap my factory wheel covers.

Do you use your roof rack enough to justify leaving it on all the time? Are they permanently attached somehow?
