I Krown rust controlled my Mirage. That time of year. Many people do their oil spraying in the fall. The people at krown tell me that applying Krown in the summer is actually better. It means the oil product seeps more like water, so protects more nooks and crannies from rust.

Too bad the stuff stinks, and drips, but if you want a Mirage in 20 years in Ontario, this is the thing you almost have to do.

Yeah, I got mine done in April and it's *still* oozing out from various places, first hot day back in June it was a sloppy mess.

You need a good hand wash to get the residue off the exterior body panels once it sets in place.

    Mostly all good now though!

Took it out for a spin on Friday and stopped in at the local Pizza joint and got a order of Garlic Fingers, snapped this pic while I was waiting because I thought the car was looking pretty good for a 2014MY, built back in 2013.

Looks good! Man am I glad I don't have to worry about rustproofing down here in the south. I can definitely appreciate the effort you put into making your Mirage last as long as possible.

Manual. Original clutch. All city driving. This has been the best car I have ever owned. She just got her 20th oil change at 149,862 miles.

    Code brown!

I almost smoked a deer last night with my Mirage.

Fortunately it came bounding out of the brush on an angle (going partially my way), so I had more time to respond and hit the binders (and the horn).

I think that's the first time in my life I've ever activated ABS on dry pavement! Full on from ~75 kph / ~45 mph. You could sure smell the brakes afterward... at least I think that was the smell.

Literally the moment before, I had been thinking: "these headlights are okay, but I wonder how much better the LED's are that Wally put in his Mirage..."

I just took my Mirage out for its weekly exercise. No excitement. On the way out, I let her rev a bit after warming up, and used the brakes a good bit to knock the rust off the rotors and get everything moving. 38 mpg on the way out. Reset the MPG, and hypermiled on the way back, 55.4 MPG on the return.

She's still got it. I should probably sell her, though. Most of my driving is in the driver's ed car these days, and I still have two Miatas in the garage (mine and my wife's). Kinda silly to keep paying insurance on yet another car that I'm not really using.
    Simplify and add lightness.

Try car wildlife whistles, I was having a lot of raccoons darting in front of my car lately, day and night. I put the deer whistles on a week and a half ago, I haven't seen animals get close now.

I keep "scarecrows" in my windows to keep many birds from pecking at my windows, I had a huge issue with crows, and my friend told me that trick, and solved 90% of bird/window encounters..
