I replaced my fuel pump for the third time today. As some of you may remember, mine came up with a check engine light for the fuel temp sensor a while back. Yeah, I'm the guy CobraJet mentioned above. Anyways, I got a complete unit from All Foreign Auto Parts in Pittsburgh PA. Ordered several parts from them over the years and never had an issue. Got the first one, and the pump was DOA. Decided to tear it apart and put their temp sensor on my pump unit. Got it all back together and reinstalled. Ran great. Cleared the code and the second time I started it, the temp code came back again. Called the parts guys back up a couple days later and told them about it. They boxed up another one and sent it to me free of charge. Didn't have to return mine, or anything.

Installed their replacement, and it fired right up. Cleared the code, second time I started it, BAM, damn check engine light was back on again. Only thing I can figure now is a broken wire somewhere, or the computer is messed up. I figure 3 in a row couldn't all have the same problem with that sensor.

Car Nut, do you suppose the wiring for that circuit goes through the connector that tends to collect moisture which causes corrosion?

I ordered my weathertech floor mat. Should be here by Friday. Also, I got a nice car wash.

We had the recalls done too. It didn't really help our cars at all. But our's do have a ton of snow and crap get flung all over the place.

If you have the schematic you can bench test the wiring on the plug for the pump assembly. It's pretty straight forward if you just follow the wires. Check the resistance of the temp sensor and heat it up with a hair dryer. Then do the wiggle test to see if anything drops off.

I have that same color, and that same problem. My car often looks like an 'avian diarrhea derby'.
