    I figure even if they just last a year (which it might be already) then that’s good enough for me. The brand was “Sunbeam” like the appliances.

    Lithium batteries aren't too prone to leaking in my experience.

    That's a good thing then.
    I used the free junk AAAs sold at harbor freight and they leaked in my kids rc car controller
