CVT owners: is anyone willing to record some speed vs. RPM stats for us?

Special request to a CVT owner out there...

Some of us are curious to compare the engine RPM of the CVT against the manual at various speeds. We already know the manual figures from the gear ratios.

(EG: Gear ratios: 2014 Mirage transmissions, 5-spd manual & CVT (speed vs. RPM chart))

But the CVT will vary (obviously) depending on engine load.

    So...

Would anyone with the CVT be willing to do a series of runs on a level road at, say 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 km/h and note the engine RPM at each steady speed (steady throttle)? (If possible, bi-directional runs to average out effects of grade or wind would be best.)

This request comes from this thread originally: http://mirageforum.com/forum/showthr...ull=1#post3126

    Thanks!

Thanks to spacester for posting this from a Netherlands CVT road test, but I'm not sure what the "gears" refer to...

Mitsubishi Space Star 1.2 CVT Instyle ClearTec AS & G 2013 - autotest

Speed RPM - 1st gear RPM -2nd gear RPM - "Ds" mode
    50 km/h
    (31 mph)
    1800 1200 2100
    80 km/h
    (50 mph)
    2000 1600 3000
    100 km/h
    (62 mph)
    2400 2100 3000

2,200 rpm at a speed of 80 km / h in 1st gear, 1,600 rpm in 2nd gear, and 3,000 rpm in Ds mode. At 50/100 km / h is 1.800/2.400 rpm in 1st gear, the 2nd gear ratio 1.200/2.100 and 2.100/3.000 respectively in Ds mode.

    Sweet! Thanks a lot!
Seems that the CVT revs really nice an low while cruising. I would've guessed that it would rev at least at around 1500rpm at 50km/h. It could be that the "1st gear" corresponds to the "L" setting to be used for driving up or down hills (so that downhill, you can use the resistance of the transmission and engine as break and uphills that setting favours higher torque without being too annoying), "2nd gear" would be "D" for every day driving situations and "Ds" revs really high to get as much torque as possible (3000rpm is really close to the max. torque at 4000rpm, delivering adequate performance for overtaking someone).

during my test drive in the cvt i was doing around 1600-1800 at around ~95kpmh depending on wind.

1st gear is exactly that...2nd gear also.
the CVT is linked to a 2 speed gearbox. This is what allows it to achieve such a wide gear ratio.
The "L" or "B" or "S" setting does not change ratios but merely increases the rpm by about 1000 at any given speed to allow a higher level of engine braking on downhills.
    Will weld for beer.

We took our Mirage on it's first Interstate drive yesterday. At about 70 MPH the engine was turning at just under 2000 rpm for most of the trip. Flat land using cruise control.

By way of contrast, my Hyundai Azera usually stays right around 2000 rpm at that speed on that stretch of highway. It has a 6 speed auto trans.

The Mirage felt more stable than I was expecting for that small a car at that speed.
