I have a 2015, 5spd. Lots of factors but I hovered around 38-39 mpg during a summer trip last year. Weather was about mid-low 70s. My average speed was between 70-75mph driving back home as well. Tire pressure was 35 psi all around as well. Could be spark plugs. Take a look into the intake too. During the fall, I found 1-2 leaves in my intake O_O...

When I slow down to 60-65, going down some country roads, my MPG jumps up to about 42.
Yep, I was on the 5 in central valley. I guess that is good then, and yes there was some wind head on. I guess is ok.

BTW who ever asked. The car is stock with tints and no hub caps.

    Seems about right.

Here's what I did to increase my mpg dramatically.

    1. Increase tire pressure to 44psi
    2. Maximum speed 60mph
    3. Set ac temperature to 80, recycling
    4. Constant cruise control use

Be very gentle with the accelerator. You'll reach your high numbers with time

Just got back from an 800 mile roundtrip from FL to GA and back, cruising 55-70mph on country back roads the whole way. Just me in the car on the way up. Uphill trend the whole way. AC on 75% of the drive. 37.6mpg. On the way back, downhill trend, AC on 75% of the time, car completely loaded down with heavy cargo (power tools, floor tile) bottoming out the suspension, 40.0mpg. My final conclusion is that fuel economy suffers immensely from this little 3cyl. having to work so hard. A larger and more powerful engine could actually be more economical due to less strain. I've said it before, but I'll repeat it here. My Versa was more fuel efficient at 55+mph even though it weighs 500lbs more and has a 1.6L 109hp 4cyl.

From LA TO SF I got similar results. The engine should be 1.5 with around 90-110 hp
my versa with tall short 5 speed did better

Speed seems to be the issue. Keep it maximum 65 mph. That might mean staying in the Right lane, but worth the MPGs IMHO.

At 55 on my ext test drive I was getting 50.9 MPG. At 65 I was about 44 MPG.

Slow Down. These are not cars meant for hammering fast.

Speed over 55 mph reduces mpg with any vehicle I've owned. What really hurts it worse than speed is climbing hills. There a lot of them on the northern half of my drive in northeastern GA. Couldn't maintain the posted 65mph limit up the hills with 3/4 throttle. Little engine under too much strain means poor MPG.
