Mirages should come with a dual action buffer

So as many of you know, the mirage paint is less than paper thin. I've now had to pull out my dual action buffer to take care of a few random scratches twice now.

Today after I washed it I noticed a 6in long fine scratch up behind the back door on the rear pillar. What the!!!!!

I must have breathed too hard on that spot during the wash haha. Anyway, I buffed it out but still, very annoying.

On a side note, I highly recommend the DA buffer polisher sold at harbor freight. It's a knock off of a pro level unit and is very solid and has worked well the 2 or 3 years I've had it. Only about 55.00 with coupon.

I have to admit I had no idea what "DA buffer" meant in the thread title until I read your post.

    I was thinking...

    Driving Aggressiveness?

    Deal Appreciation?

    Donut Appetite?

For what it's worth, most of the new cars I've had since 2009 (which would be five of them -- don't judge me ) all have had very thin paint. That includes two Suzuki SX4s, a Subaru Forester, a Subaru WRX, and the Mirage.

Haha yeah. Dual action buffers are what professional detailers use

Well, my DA saved ne again yesterday. The Mirage paint is thinner than a frog hair split four ways.
I was taking too much out of my hatch at once and dropped my small box of almond milk and it slid down the rear bumper and caused this...Name: 20190327_185406.jpg

With a little ultimate compound and the medium orange pad it was gone.

    Here is the after pic.

I also had to touch up 8 tiny chips on the hood that happened over the winter! Just used the little universal black pen point and let it dry a few days then buffed it over. Those you can still see a bit but only when you know where they are.

My wifes wine red does not seem to get the little hood chips like the black car.

Thanks for the heads-up. The paint on our current (2017) and previous (2015) Forester is ... soft. Must be the clear coat. The CC on the Golf R and GLI was decent. I didn't wash the Wrangler too much, it was a Jeep. Guess I find out in a couple of weeks personally how bad the Mirage is.
