Goodyear makes good stuff! Gates has been good to me also. How often do these need done?
I ended up ordering a Goodyear/Continental belt. It looks just like the Gatorback with the notches cut into the ribs so suspect it is the same thing.
I also adjusted the belt as it was definitely loose according to the plucking sound. We will see how that goes but figure it is best to replace it maybe at the next oil change when the weather is hopefully a little nicer out. The adjustment was super easy and took no time at all.
The squealing and squeaking in some situations should be inherent with the fact that these do not have an automatic belt tensioner. Adjustment may be necessary over the life of the belt, or you can just leave it until it has visible cracks and needs replacement.
I wouldn't be concerned, but I'm sure a Gatorback would solve any noise concerns. Those are fantastic belts.
If you load up the belt(alternator and ac compressor) turn on the ac, rear defrost, headlights and blower motor to full then blip the throttle and hear a squeak then the belt is too loose or needs to be replaced. I've tightened belts and gotten rid of noise that way but once the alternator is a little past center on the adjuster slot it's time to look for another belt.
