I was one of those sales, picked up a Mirage SE just before the end of the month.

The numbers I am surprised with is the Eclipse Cross. I am surprised it is not selling better than it is. Only 775 sold in the month of July and 858 in August? That is crazy for a new vehicle in such a hot segment. I thought that it would quickly become their best seller when it came out but I guess not.

^ It's possible as a new vehicle it could be limited by supply. August was its best month in the States so far.

Coincidentally, I saw my first Eclipse Cross just this morning - a white one. Looked sharp, as far as those things go.

Also of note, the brand is up 21% YTD vs. '17. (70,765 units in '17 vs. 85,693 in '18) Impressive.

I have seen quite a few of them on the road so far so I thought it was selling well. I actually see more of them than I do Mirages most of the time. I would look at one if I was in the market for a small SUV.

Very impressive actually! I hope Mitsubishi can make a big comeback. I think the next generations of the Outlander, Outlander Sport and Mirage will make or break them so I hope they do not make any mistakes.

Looks like they are making it. The new Outlander and Eclipse Cross look really great in person. The looks are making more people interested.

    August Canada

236 Mirages sold - similar to last Aug, and above average for 2018 so far.

Overall, another record month for Mitsubishi total sales in Canada: "January-to-August sales of 18,028 are up 17 per cent versus 15,418 deliveries this time last year."

    ---

What's interesting is Mirage sales here are holding steady (if low) compared to last year, while sales of the Micra seem to be plummeting: August Micra sales are down -58% vs. last August, and are down -36% year-to-date compared to last year.

It's partly because Nissan has introduced a new entry-level crossover/CUV the "Kicks". Might be the cheapest new crossover in Canada/U.S. They're cannibalizing some Micra sales, but probably making more profit in the big picture.

    Sept. USA

Mirage was a bright spot in a month where the company unexpectedly stumbled.

1709 Mirage deliveries, up 7.9% from Sept. last year. Unless sales fall dramatically in the next 3 months, the Mirage has a lock on 2018 as its 4th straight year of increasing sales.

Meanwhile, overall Mitsubishi sales were down 8.6%, a big drop.

Good for Mirages & Outlander Sports, bad for everything else. The thing about the Outlander Sport is although it is a old design and it shares some of complaints with the Mirage (hard plastics etc) the 2.0 & 2.4 are very reliable and the AWD is very good. It's sold worldwide as the ASX and has the reputation of being able to sustain some pretty punishing conditions and it's affordable. I'd choose a Outlander Sport over the Eclipse Cross.
