Thread: Mitsubishi Mirage monthly sales, US & Canada, 2013-2023 (projected 7000/yr for U.S.)

Relevant bit from the above article...

CEO Takao Kato says the Japanese carmaker’s new strategy will focus less on huge global markets where the brand is merely an also-ran.

Addressing investors during Mitsubishi’s annual shareholders meeting last week, Kato said the automaker will dial down business in megamarkets such as Europe and China. He didn’t mention North America or the U.S. by name. But the company later confirmed that it indeed considers the U.S. a megamarket.

    Cliff's Notes

    • Mitsubishi has increased US vehicle sales, but US profits remain lower than expected.

    • Mitsubishi will gradually reduce business in large markets (US/Europe/China) where they are not a major player.

    • Mitsubishi will focus in regions where sales have been most successful (Southeast Asia/Oceania). Note: Mitsubishi sells twice as many vehicles in Southeast Asia as they do in North America.

    • The "alliance" partners plan to avoid future market overlap by focusing global sales as follows:
      - Nissan.......US/China
      - Renault......Europe
      - Mitsubishi...Southeast Asia/Oceania

I bet we'll be seeing the fancy new schnoz soon enough.

July rebates are unchanged from last month.

    It's still $750 off a G4 or $500 off a Mirage (with 0% financing)...

White Bear's cash price went up (from $10,000 to $10,500) for a 2020 Mirage ES manual.

Interesting. There must have been a targeted incentive that expired for cash buyers?!?

I think they had 22 or 23 (ES manuals) in stock last month. Now they are down to 16.

Well, Q2 Mitsubishi (USA) sales are down 58%. Ouch. There are other automakers down around that much too. Honda (-55.9), Chrysler (-57.8), Subaru (-54.8), Dodge (-62,7), Acura (-58.8).

    Here's Mitsubishi Motors' USA sales:

    Well...that's not good.

On the bright side... Mirage YTD sales are "only" down 35% compared with last year...so Mirage sales aren't doing that bad when compared with other models in the line-up. Maybe that's why Mirage rebates haven't changed?

Outlander and Eclipse Cross numbers are definitely not looking good. And those are the vehicles with the largest profit margin.

If the cash price (meaning you could finance with your local credit union) was $10,000 for Mirage ES MANUAL (window sticker of $15,265 including destination charge) , that means -

$10,000 - full price. 65.5% of window sticker
$9,500 - if you qualify for one of the special rebates (loyalty, military, or VIP). 62.23% of window sticker.
$9,000 - if you qualify for two of the special rebates (loyalty, military, or VIP). 58.96% of window sticker.
$8,500 - if you qualify for three of the special rebates (loyalty, military, or VIP). 55.7% of window sticker.

Tax, registration, documentation fees, etc... would add less than $1000 to the above prices for most states (depending on sales tax where you live).

I have to ask Top Fuel - On top of the large discounts that have been offered already, what sort of large rebate are you expecting to see?

Does it matter if it's called a discount or rebate? If the above prices aren't already a good deal, what is?
