Canada: Big expectations for Mitsubishi’s smallest car (Kelowna Capital News)
Another mostly favourable Canadian review.
Interesting trivia:
No wonder Mitsu unveiled the car in old Quebec City. Residents of the province buy half of Canada's subcompact cars, despite representing just under one quarter of the country's population.
The CVT's 2-stage gearing provides "the world’s highest gear ratio of 7.3"
Mitsubishi expects the SE / CVT will be most popular
And I like his rational take on the issue of power/weight. It's "as quick as it needs to be."
Pros:
- interior room decent, despite small size
- efficient design (good aero)
- CVT smooth & quiet
- instrument panel logically laid out
- controls usable with gloves on
- 5-speed more fun than the CVT
- extensive warranty
Cons:
- extra cost for the more efficient CVT isn't justified on savings in fuel
- plenty of hard plastic inside
- options drive the price up quickly
Overall:
Let’s just say that the Mirage is as quick as it needs to be in a vehicle that is inexpensive to buy, to fuel, and with its extensive warranty, to keep on the road.
