So they will work all the time? Is it possible to turn the heating on and off?

They work with rear defrost on.

My 2019 Mirage ES is NOT prewired for heated mirrors

Of course I find this out after I ordered the heated glass. Drat!

Like others have already stated, NONE of the Mirage 5 trim levels (ES, RF, LE, SE, GT) have heated side mirrors in the United States. The SE & GT have side mirrors with turn indicators. I guess the pre-wiring could have existed, but less likely when no trim levels have it. All trim levels do have rear defrost, which I feel is way more important.

The wiring for the heated mirror is present in my 17 and in my buddies 15. Like the DIY shows, it's not pre-wired IN the mirror but pre-wired TO the harness below the mirror. I'm almost sure if a 15 ES and 17 SE had it there, other years do too.

It's not wired in the mirror, but did you check the harness below?

I didn't expect it to be in the mirror wiring itself but there's only 3 wires coming to the connector in the door that goes to the mirror.

Kind of like the heated seat thing, I'd be willing to bet a new SE would have the extra wires for the heated mirrors in the door just like it had the wiring present for heated seats.

I would think that too before I started looking at the wiring on a 15' and 17' behind the kick panel. Both cars have the same connector I'm seeing corrosion on. Both cars are optioned exactly the same but the 17' has less wires in the connectors than the 15'.

Well ****, there we go haha. I guess I'll have to decide if I want to go through the absolute hell of running wiring from the mirror into the door and then into the body. That sounds pretty... awful... and I already have to do that to the Tacoma.

I would have gladly paid a little extra for heated mirrors... it's such a nice feature in the crap winter or when it's really rainy out as well... helps clear them off.
