Hmmm...I don't think our coolant is blue. Might actually be the 'Red'?

My 2017 Mirage is the Asian Blue. It's definitely NOT red.

This has been discussed in other threads.

Eh, they both meet the same Mitsubishi ES-64217 spec anyway.

    What Mark said...

I use the blue stuff at work. My black car had green coolant in it when I bought it. The inside of the engine looked like new after almost 300,000km so I poured green stuff back in it. And the heater works fine.

That's definitely not blue, nor red!

"First change at 120,000 miles (192,000 km) or at 96 months, thereafter every 90,000 miles (144,000 km) or 72 months" - from my 2017 warranty & maintenance manual

Whether you use schedule 1 or 2 for maintenance, the recommended coolant changes are the same.

Unless I see a reason to do otherwise, I sort of plan on doing the above.

I've owned my Mirage 4 years this past week, & I am slightly above 55,000 miles. If the original coolant goes 8 years or 120,000 miles, I have no complaints.

There are 3 variants of Valvoline's Zerex Coolant for Asian vehicles

Except for the Red variant, I can't really discern any differences if any.. based on their respective SDS.

Apparently, all three meet Mitsubishi specs.

So they’re just universal coolants dyed to make people feel better?

Probably not. I am sure different manufacturers have different, very specific color-coded requirements. But Mitsubishi doesn't seem to?
