I completely agree though, there has to be a reason for it. Its just a matter of time before we figure it out.

I stopped by my in laws last night and picked up the USB camera from my father in law. I didn't have a chance to give it a go yet, but soon!

Its a pretty simple and extremely cheap device. I think he paid $12 off amazon for this thing. You just download one of many apps, start it up, plug the camera in and your phone becomes the screen for the camera. Super easy to use. It also has a light on the end of it so you can see in the dark.
Hopefully you can get a clear shot to the heater core. Even better if you can tape the temp probe to the camera and see if the core is colder on the rh side.

I got a bunch of pictures the other day. It took quite a bit of doing to get these. The camera isn't the best at focusing at different ranges... Sadly, I wasn't able to get a nice top down view of things, only close up shots.

The heater core looks totally unplugged from an airflow perspective.

I did find this blue tube in there... I'm guessing that is the aspirator, but I really have absolutely no clue.

Have you checked the condition of your outside temp sensor (behind front bumper)?

I added the foam to the vents in the front bumper to reduce cold air flow. How is that going to affect how the hvac reacts to outside air temp?

The lack of airflow may trap engine heat and fool the HVAC into thinking it's warmer outside than it is? It was 25 here last night, and my heater blew way hotter than normal to compensate for the low ambient temp even though the set temperature in the car remained the same.

That would be nice if the heater was hotter - it doesn't seem to make a difference on my car with the foam in the front bumper, still blowing less than desired temperature.

Weird, my heater can pump out heat like it has direct airflow from the Gates of Hell.
