    I think I will pull the drums off the next time I have my car in the air. Is each bearing a sealed unit? In other words, you can't re-pack them?
    Yes. And they are also pressed in so you will need a hydraulic press to get them out.

    That sucks. I didn't see anything in the service manual describing that. Then again, sometime the service manual is a little light on details.

    I was bummed, too. I know for a fact this is true because I removed a snap ring and tried to swap the good bearing from the bad drum onto the good drum with the bad bearing last night. Friction fit. Gotta be pressed out.

    Thought about trying to hammer it out but it was the middle of the night and these bearings don't seem particularly stout anyway. Likely would have destroyed one or both trying.

    Yes, there is. The dummies at the wrecking yard pulled these drums off for me on a Friday, then left them out in the rain for two days until I could come get them on Monday.

    I should haves ways to go. 6k miles and I brake lightly. Those shoes are tiny! They appear even half the size or less than my old 90 prizm.

    Did mine today using the same Raybestos brake shoes. I had the same issue with the pin not fitting, so I drilled it with a 1/4 drill bit. Worked perfectly. 15/64 was still too tight.

    By the way, had 75,000 miles in 2.5 years and they were still just in service limits, about 2.5 mm. Fronts were still at 6 mm sp I left them original

    It is not really for adjustment, per se. Adjustment is completely automatic. The lever is to release the brake shoes, thus allowing the drum to be removed. It should eliminate the need to mess with the parking brake adjustment nut if the drums need to come off.
