To answer a couple of the questions.. I did have the drums off my car and it does indeed have star wheel adjusters. My assumption is all '17 and up have this setup.
I see no reason for the overadjust issue. All seems right in there.
As for the dealership there's not another in 350 miles so I'm stuck with them.
Brakes worn out at 76,000 km is well short of expectation IMO. Certainly considering almost entirely highway use. Though the low cost and ease of replacement make it acceptable.
I will try to source the right shoes as a Lancer part though. Thanks for that info.
Now we'll see how far the aftermarkets go.

    Will weld for beer.

For what it's worth, my 2015 was built in December 2015 and does not have star wheel adjusters.
That is actually a very helpful data point. If your '15 does not have star adjusters, then I don't think any of them would. I don't believe Mitsubishi made the '15s into calendar year 2016, especially since the '17s started hitting the lots about 2 1/2 months later.

I am help[ing co worker with her 2015 Mirage.
I am pretty sure back plate of the rear drums has NO adjuster hole. There is a metal plate, square one, but appears to be riveted in place. unless it needs to be removed to access adjuster?
Just in case I will need to loosen shoes to get drums off.

I finally remebered to look at the brake adjuster on a 17'. I guess we already knew but I'd say all 17's have the star wheel adjuster. I assume 18's-19's too?
It looks like rockauto fixed it's part numbers for 17' brake shoes as well.

Thanks for the write-up, I just replaced my rear brakes are 94k. My shoes didn't wear quite evenly, unfortunately, and were VERY thin in the middle of the front-facing shoes.

I went ahead and replaced the drums as well with Centric parts (the price though, OUCH), so that way it's all new stuff and I don't have to worry about resurfacing or the bearings going bad, since it all comes together. Since I do a lot of highway miles, these will likely take me out to near 200k before I'll have to replace them again.

The Centric drums come with the bearings installed?

Someone else bought the Centric drums from Rockauto and confirmed that they came complete with bearing, wheel studs and ABS ring. It's a complete assembly ready to bolt on.

Glad it went well. The rear shoes on these cars will never wear evenly because the shoes are only actuated from the top. They simply pivot on the bottom.

Mitsubishi says they should be replaced when the lining measures 2mm at it's thinnest point. Yours were definitely due!

I did mine at about 84k and since I am at 170k now I guess I should check them again.
