Did a rear break job on 15 Mirage ES Waited too long :(

    What can I say.
A leak led to to spend 5 hours on fathers day changing shoes along with painting the drums.
I let 30 mm bolts hold me up checking this our like over a year.
I heated this pass side bolt and was able to do the driver side without heated

WHY did I waited too long

I did the front pads a week ago and that was no big deal BUT still did not give me the break feel I knew I should have had.

I pulled both drums off and did one side at a time so I could look at the other side to know where the springs go.
Of course I could have just looked at the photo above if only one side needed to be done.

Good luck with your break job.

I replaced the shoes on my 2015 a few weeks ago. 105,000 miles. Front shoe on the left side was real thin but not quite
down to the metal. I bought Bosch shoes on E-Bay. Had to drill out the hole for the brake lever pivot pin a little. Shoe fit
wasn't great. Had a hard time getting the drum back on but it's ok now.

If you're going to replace the brake shoes on your 2014-2015, be aware that some of the aftermarket shoes out there don't fit right out of the box. Some aftermarket brake shoes need "minor" adjustments in order for them to work properly on your Mirage. This video should be enough to keep anyone away from Wagner brake shoes for a Mirage...

I bought a set of OEM brake shoes for my 2015 a couple of years ago. I read too many "my new brake shoes don't work" or "my drums won't fit over my new brake shoes" stories. The OEM shoes were only about $30 more than aftermarket shoes. I'm almost at 130,000 and still haven't had to replace my original shoes yet.

Do you use the 'B' mode, or just easy on brakes (like I am).
