Here are some extreme wooden ramps. I remember seeing these 15+ years ago on a Mustang forum...

This looks pretty good, especially when working on multiple vehicles. My uncle and I will be working on a couple of projects when I return back to GA. We are debating on making a ramp made of steel or concrete. He recently retired so he wants the ramp to be tough and permanent. He already ordered some stuff from Autoanthing and 4WheelOnline for the ATV so a wooden ramp like that could be just fine for the atv and Mirage.

I keep picturing the car driving up those ramps too fast, hitting the brakes at the top and everything come crashing forward like dominos. Then once he gets the car off the pile of lumber he does a burnout and losses control hitting parked cars because Mustang.

Very nice! If it were me, I'd make the ramps a little longer, and for the piece to stop you from driving too far, I would put it on top and screw it down from the top, rather than into the back. The way that ramp is, your tire hitting the piece of wood screwed like that, could have some decent leverage and either break screws or rip them out of the back, causing you to over-drive the ramp.

@wellswebdesign - yep, i thought of that as well. It seems that its not safe if you only screw a bit of that wood from the top. Instead, make it from the bottom to the top is much safer.

Agreed! Don't ask me how I know! (I didn't quite drive off the end.)

I've got Rhino ramps, and it's not hard to hit the end. I probably do it every time I go up on my ramps. There's so much resistance getting up the ramps that once you hit the level part, it's a split second from being level to being at the bump stop at the end of the ramp.
