Or have a solid honest mechanic and pray the aftermarket parts scene continues to grow.

8yrs, got my '04 Accord in 2012-13, still have it today. But not for long, hopefully – I can't afford the insurance on both cars plus the note on the Mirage. Luckily, I'm set to get double the gas mileage at minimum, which should help a little.

Before this Accord, I had another, but an accident and then later failure of the right front ball joint totaled that one. Haven't been in another accident yet (well, other than that old dude who pulled out of a parking lot and hit my left-rear wheel well), knock on wood...

I bought a 1950 DeSoto at an auction in 1990 when I was 12 and I still have it.

The longest I've owned a single car is 5+ Years, and it's the '14 Mirage I have now (Bought new in July 2015).

Before that, I had a '11 Civic (with a busted manual transmission), a '97 Subaru Impreza (50% Bondo), a 2004 Saturn Ion that tried to kill me weekly, and my first car, a 2005 Golf Manual that I crashed and wrote off .

Worst car out of all of them? Bar none, the Saturn Ion (and it's ignition system which would randomly work / not work) plus the power steering system that would randomly shut off while driving (I sold it before GM recalled it).

Runner up, the '11 Civic with it's terrible manual transmission that the dealer couldn't fix (shame because it was a great car otherwise).

I plan on keeping the Mirage until the powertrain warranty is up in July 2025, as I very much doubt i'll hit 160000 Km in another 5 Years... i've only done 68000 so far. Paid the Mirage off last fall, so it's really not costing me much other than (very little) gas and regular maintenance.

I'm interested to see what the 2021 MY Mirage looks like in person, but aside from cosmetic changes, there isn't really a whole lot of reason to upgrade (aside from more features).

What was wrong with the transmission in your Civic?

I had an '07 or '08 Civic 5-speed as a winter beater 5 or 6 years back. I really liked that car. Probably the most "grown-up" car I've owned to date.... followed by the Mirage.

Was digging and dug up this interesting thread. Thought I bring it back to the top. I purchased this truck new in October, 1999. And I still have it today. 22 years. That is the longest I have ever owned a vehicle.

It is Cummins powered (gets really decent mpg), and has a 6 speed manual and 4x4. It gives me NO trouble. And everything works, including good cold air.

It is back to having no camper shell on it. This is a picture from August.
