Costco sells Top Tier gas - and lots of it.

    It's good stuff.

But how can you tell if they're underground.

I haven't done anything with the coolant actually. How does one monitor the coolant temperature other than the little temperature indicator?

How close are you to your dealership? It might be useful to do an identical drive loop with a new Mirage vs. yours. They would have to be warmed up to the same degree though for it to tell you anything.
Where is the thermostat actually located? I'd be better off putting a heater on that hahaha

I monitor my coolant temperature through my OBD-II port using an OBDLink LX Bluetooth adapter by ScanTool. It's similar to the ScanGauge tool that many here use but costs less and does more. I got it about a year ago through Amazon and paid about $50 for it. It is now selling for $62.99 on Amazon.

There are other devices that can be used such as the ScanGauge or cheaper OBD-II adapters. Be careful using the cheap ELM clones - I understand they can be problematic.

Mitsubishi recommends using Shell gasoline if you're having issues. I think it's in the manual somewhere too but I'm not 100% sure of it.
    Will weld for beer.

Typically on the engine where the upper radiator hose comes off. EDIT: nope! See Fummins reply below.

So what's your plan for monitoring your coolant temperature?

Have you noticed the heater isn't particularly hot this winter?

If you see above ground tanks then they aren't underground lol

Follow the lower rad hose. It looks like the thermostat housing is under the alternator on the front of the block.

Good question LOL. Around here it's pretty easy because gas stations are required to replace their tanks on a regular schedule to protect groundwater. You can tell how new the hidden tanks are by how new the pumps above ground are. Otherwise, people usually buy most of their gas in an area they are familiar with and can recall when a gas station was built. I realize this may not be true for other parts of the world but I would look for the biggest, newest looking station in the area.
