Well, at least until the Next Great Mirage-A-Palooza of 2018 (or thereabouts). I bet we'll be seeing news about the 7th gen Mirage around then, with big discounts on the outgoing model.

But, yup, the price really is crazy. I absolutely do not need a new car, but I half-seriously/half-jokingly ran the numbers for getting one.

I bought a 2015 5-Speed Manual DE with no options. The MSRP was $13,805, including destination charges. The dealer discounted the price $1,566 and also applied the $3,500 rebate. My end cost was $8,739 + title fees and 7% sales tax.

I got really lucky on the price. Most of the dealers in my area of Ohio are offering around $1,000 off MSRP, plus the $3,500 rebate on their remaining 2015 Mirages. I was about ready to buy a manual DE at this price when I happened to catch a TV ad ran by my local Mitsubishi dealer. The ad said the dealership was selling new Mirages for as low as $7,989. Of course, this price included the loyalty and military rebates, which I don't qualify for. I took a screenshot of the ad and called the dealer. He honored the TV price, less the loyalty and military rebates. What a deal!

Wow... that is cheap... I can get one here in SOCAL for 9700 but is auto. After having the 14 de man, now a Lancer SE, I want to get an auto for commuting...

I finally made a purchase. 2015 Infrared ES manual - $10,477 + $350 dealer doc fee + $1008 taxes = $11,835 OTD. I purchased from Renn Kirby in MD. As I'm in Georgia, I haven't taken ownership of the vehicle, yet. It should be delivered next Wednesday or Thursday.

OK...I have to ask. How did you end up buying from a dealer 600 miles away? I drove 600 miles (round trip) to buy my ES, and I thought I was nuts. How is the car getting to GA?

I have contracted a transport company to pick up and deliver. I really tried working with several dealers in my area. Only one seemed to be wanting to "sell the car" (read: poor communication, deceptive tactics, etc...) Manuals were in short supply here as well. The one local dealer that didn't have poor customer service finally found a manual in Florida that they were willing to get. It took him longer than expected to find, though. In the meantime, I had found the one in MD and it had a great price and the communication was the best - bar none! - out of any of the dealers with which I'd previously dealt. The local guy couldn't touch the price in Maryland. Even with the cost to ship the vehicle, I'm still below his best price.
