I've only purchased one vehicle that I found on ebay. It was from a dealer, not a private seller. I believe he ended the auction and I sent him a cashier's check. I had the car, a 1997 Toyota Paseo, shipped to me for a few hundred dollars. I guess I got lucky, that was a great car that I wish I still had.

Custom Mirage products: Cruise control kit, Glove box light, MAF sensor housing, Rear sway bar, Upper grill block

Current project: DIY Nitrous oxide setup for ~$100

In any case, try the Mitsubishi Monroney service with your own Mirage VIN to get an electronic pdf copy of your window sticker. Also helpful when shopping around - just get the VIN and plug it in.

Would you have a link to the Vin checker, that you mentioned? Thanks.

There are three ways I'm familiar with.

    1. Go to www.mitsubishicars.com/owners and create an account there for you and your Mirage. Once you enter your VIN the website can be used to track your service history including recalls. There will also be access to warranty info, owner's manual and handbook, the maintenance manual, and others. It's a good resource. From the My Garage page, select Equipment and Options and it will automatically generate a Monroney window sticker for you in pdf form.

    2. Go to Mitsubishicars.com | Support | What Is A VIN? select your model year. This is more of a DIY method that applies to more than just your model vehicle.

    3. Simply enter your VIN at the end of this URL: http://www.mitsubishicars.com/rs/file/monroney?vin=

    In example:
    Code:

    www.mitsubishicars.com/rs/file/monroney?vin=ML32A4HJXFH014088
Let me know if you have any problems.

Nice, 2 brand new cars for less than $25,000!

2015 DE CVT for $6295 ($6935 out the door). 32k miles ex-rental from Hertz Santa Clara, CA
Certified and perfect condition, even good tires and brakes.

I had good experience with my Kia cee'd Hertz ex-rental in Germany, so I decided this is a great deal for roughly 42% of the MSRP.

I ordered a leather steering wheel with cruise control, a VCI programmer and auto-dim mirror with compass and temp for another ~300 bucks to fit the car to my needs. It will also get remote start and light window tinting later since I live in the desert.

Hertz seems like a good way to get into one of these cars. And if you're lucky, they will have more than 1 to choose from.

Hertz sells Mirages around 30K miles. Do they get a new set of tires (Enasaves) before they are sold...or do you think your car has its original tires?

They have several cars at each location. But they mostly sell for the same price, regardless of the condition.

I saw cars on the lot with several scrapes and worn tires as well as cars in perfect condition like mine. The tires were mainly original, but my model got new front tires from Goodyear, not sure why. The front brake disks have no tangible rim and no common wear as I would expect after 32k miles. I'm also not sure if the rotors were replaced. I don't think so and believe it just may have some defensively driving renters as myself, who has driven rental cars for the last six month in lack of a own car.

My car was owned by Hertz Las Vegas and sold in the Bay Area. I guess it was mainly driven in the deserts and California. I like that the air conditioning is still very strong and has no smell like other rental cars!

That's interesting. I would have expected them to go through some sort of reconditioning so they would all be close to the same condition. Obviously helps to find a Hertz location with more than 1 to choose from.

It's possible they never rotated the tires and the fronts just wore out. Less likely (but possible) is that the car has an alignment problem. Either way, I would take the car to have a 4 wheel alignment check as soon as you can.

Just curious...what model and size of Goodyear tire is on your car right now? I didn't know Goodyear made a 165-65-14?
