Thread: Finally due for a brake job at 105k miles

    Thanks Basic! I'm at 55k and very easy on brakes, so this reassures me I can probably expect another couple of years out of the original pads. Still got original tires, but right rear is getting close to worn out.
    I usually get 70k or better out of front pads on most vehicles I've owned.

    Finally got them on at 107k... they actually looked better than I imagined. Rotors looked fantastic and there was still even a “little” bid of pad left. LOL!

    Wow, that looks great. Did you check your slides to make sure they still moved well?

    Not yet. I was in a hurry and didn't have time, but I will.

    Everything looked really good. Regreased the bolts, checked the boots, everything looked good except the caliper piston itself. It had a lot of stress cracks in it. They will need to be replaced at some point.

    Stress cracks on the caliper piston? That doesn't sound good.
