    2018 sales

Just updated post #1 with 2018 global sales stats:

The company ... underscored the Mirage and Mirage G4 are pretty important to it. Around the world, Mitsubishi sold 140,000 Mirage models last year.

    1 million Mirages!

Another happy belated birthday: the Mirage platform is now 8 years old.

And I found some interesting production stats on the car's Wikipedia page that shows production passed the 1-million mark last year:

    One decade!

Well, happy belated 10th birthday to the 6th gen. Mirage platform. Forgot to post this milestone in March.

Anybody want to guess how many more years before they pull the plug on our favourite little tin can?

(Not counting https://mirageforum.com/forum/showth...Europe-in-2023Renaults with Mitsubishi badges stuck on.)

I'll say an even 12 years, so 2024. Mitsubishi needs an entry level car and Eclipse Cross ain't it ( though I do like them).

Do they really need an entry level car, though?

Almost everybody else is dropping their "economy" cars.

The industry in the US and Canada seems to be counting on people going for 7+ year long loans to be able to afford whatever the next cheapest crossover or SUV is in their lineup.

PS: I think you're right. I'd bet on 2024 being the last model year for the Mirage.

How long did they milk the Lancer platform here? I think it was 10 or 12 years.

EDIT: Wiki says 10 years for the Lancer in N.A. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Lancer

Maybe they'll keep it around until the safety police decide it's suddenly dangerous to drive anymore?

The last press release that I saw, casually contained a sentence stating that the Clio/Colt will be positioned above the Space Star and below the new ASX (which will also be a rebranded Renault).

So, at least not "replacing the Space Star". Yet.

My guess is 2024 as well.

Did Renault actually recover from "Porche's Revenge" the Dauphine of the 60's? Never owned one but listened to all the whining....
